Hello, my name is Gidae (from Korean for “hope”). I managed to escape from the Yodok (or kwanliso No. 15) camp in North Korea where I was held for 9 years. I saw a lot of horror, atrocities, torture and death there and I am lucky to have come out alive. Today I am rebuilding but I have a lot of hatred, violence and I don’t trust anyone.
